    I looked up the term and I still can't tell whether it's just a description of a certain personality type, or whether people are actually talking about supernatural energy-suckers.

      Yes, they are the types that are negative all the time and they hardly ever positive. They just drag you down and want pity all the time.

        Yep, that's what they are. They drain all of the life out of anyone who brings any sort of happiness into the room with their constant negativity.
