Are you a manager of your workplace/company?

When I work, yes, quite definitely. And I really like it. After so many years of experience, I'm pretty good at what I do and my ways seem to work well. No one has been seriously injured or killed aboard any vessel I was operating, though I have seen many major injuries and some fatalities on vessels when I was not in charge. My experience also allows me to be more relaxed, making being aboard a boat with me a lot more fun than someone with less experience and unsure of themselves.

It's not so much that I wish I could be, but that I probably should be seeking that next step up.

Yep. I am in charge. This means I have to take the blame when my boss does something wrong. But I only have the one boss, not a long line of supervisors telling me what to do. And I never listen to my boss anyway because he's full of shit.

Technically, I guess. I'm self employed. But it feels like clients are more like my bosses :/
