Are they trying to be unique with names or...?

Like when people have unusual or incorrect spellings of their names.
Yeah there are variations like Traci vs Tracy or Brian vs Bryan.

The screwed up ones though, like I heard on a comedy skit, when someone's name is "Brian" but it is spelled "B, r, i, y, u, the number 7, x, g, q,..."

Why didn't the parents investigate how the names is spelled instead of naming their kid in such a way where he will have to explain the spelling every time?

I think it's cruel. Particularly when as an adult you know how cruel other kids are. And then to go and name your kid something utterly ridiculous like Blanket and North West. That's more for the stupid parent.

  • I was reading about funny or strange names parents had named their children once. Some I can remember are Lucifer, president, and Bubba.

A nurse who had to talk a young couple out if naming their child clamydea decided to research strange baby names and found that there had been at least two other children named clamydea and four named ghonnorhea.

I'm with you on the spelling thing. I know a guy named lasteevin and a woman named Apryl. It is annoying.

What also bugs me is when people take a man's name and put isha on the back to feminized it for a girl. Andreisha. And of course lately I've seen a lot of folks with "de" at the beginning of their name. DeAndrew. Deshawn. Demichael.

    • DeAndrew. Deshawn. Demichael. Maybe even Defuq.
Those are typical black ghetto male names.

      • Yes, blacks do go a bit crazy with naming children. But hey, if want to name their child some made up shit like "sheontray" it's their thing, it just doesn't look good on a resume, lol.

This reminds me of an episode of real housewives where they had the housewife Nene and her friend DeNene...

If I had a kid, I wouldn't even name them something like Brian/Bryan cos then they'd have to be forever explaining whether their name is spelled with a 'y' or an 'i'.
