Are the beatles over rated?

The Beatles are amazing! I think of some of the shite music I listened to 10 years ago, or some of the shite music I listened to last year, and in 5 years time I will think the music I listen to now is shite. But The Beatles I'll never stop liking.
And Ringo Star wasn't the best technical drummer, but he new his place in the band, and he let the other great musicians shine. Unlike some other bands: insert *extremely long technical guitar solo*, insert *"oh yeah" "yeah girl"*, insert *vocal screaming*, insert *overly complicated drumming*.

The beatles' music is music of the soul. Sorry it's not rap or hip hop or whatever. I still can't believe that stuff is a genre of music. The Beatles might not have been creative in a few of their tracks, but at that age in music history, nothing had to be meaningful to be wonderful song.. They're an inspiration because they were the FIRST mainstream songs, before mainstream meant the auto tuned screeching yowls of Katy Perry or Lady Gaga. Oh, and Dubstep sucks.

How can you promote one type of music that is loved by millions and then turn around and say that another type is awful? Simply because you don't like it? That's what people who think the Beatles are overrated are doing - the exact same thing you are.
I love the Beatles, I think they made great music. I also love Lady Gaga, and I like a handful of rap and hip-hop songs, too. Music is so incredibly subjective it's the epitome of "pointless" to try and convince other people your opinion is correct and theirs is wrong. It's even more pointless than arguing on the internet.
But you were right about Dubstep. It truly does suck, it's not even music.

The Beatles put out good music and influenced countless musicians who came after them. They also were not actually around that long and very rarely performed live.
I think when something is as popular as The Beatles were it is hard not to be overrated. I think they are overrated, but that doesn't mean they were bad.
