Are sterotypes accurate?

They are always a very useful way to know what to expect from others. 22

    Have to say, NO.
Just because you can label a person doesn't mean they will act as they have been labeled.
I feel that stereotyping puts limits on the different types of people we may feel comfortable surrounding ourselves with.
To be truthful, I believe those were the base intentions for stereotypes. "Stay in your own group, don't associate with anyone who isn't a part of this group. Just stay together and remain close-minded so that we may all become genocide-seeking zombehs"....blah.

That being said, I don't know where I was going with this O_O

Not all stereotypes are negative. They are rooted in the truth of generalities but don't reflect the individual or the whole. Too often people use them to make a judgement on a person without actually thinking for themselves. Bad brain, stop tricking me.

Stereotypes depends on the brand you want, like I personally think that Sony has made some good ones, but they are getting a little old. Bose Has nice speakers however..

stereotypes are never correct. every person is different. most people look at someone, and look at who the person hangs out with, and they immediatley put a label on that person. but to categorize people into groups like, "stoners, rejects, nerds," etc, is wrong. with that label comes expected personality traits, when in truth, that person is much different than you labeled them to be. nobody is only a stoner, or only a nerdy kid, or only a jock.

Stereotypes are not always correct but they have some truth to them . I think they speak as a generel comparison of that group so its a over all generalization but as everyone is diffrent and thier is excepitions ofcourse .

If stereotypes were accurate, Eminem wouldn't be a rapper and Barack Obama wouldn't be president.

i disagree, ur stereotypes r just to board, whitetrash make for some "good" rappers, and after u get out of the low-incomes the black stereotypes should be morally higher(or would it be better?) then whites of the same income bracket as thats the family trees that can get the 1:1000 chance to get out of the awful place slavery and the drug war left them

I like stereotypes! Humorous when they end up being true, and absolutely refreshing when they turn out to not fit.

As long as you don't actually use them to peg a person without talking to them, I think they are harmless and can be fun. They make great jokes and conversation starters, too.

    Absolutely not true!
Sometimes people use stereotypes to frame people, to cram them into unescapable little boxes.
For such things as hair colour, stereotypes may pose a small significance; but aside from that, taking them too far can actually be quite insulting.
For example, my husband is Irish. He is neither stupid, paradoxical or an angered drunkard. Nor does he tip his cap and squeak 'top of the mornin' to ya!'. However, he does have red hair.
Being English, I'm always humoured by the old English stereotype. Some of it, in fact quite a bit of it; is true - but exaggerated beyond belief. We do say 'bloody' this and 'bloody' that quite a bit, but I've never heard anyone say 'that's just not cricket!' in my life (not including Hermione Granger from Harry Potter). Chatting banally about the whether is rather prominent - and a lot of us seem to have unfortunate 'stiff upper lips'. Sarcasm is one of the English stereotypes that is utterly true! Talk about dry British wit!
Oh, I can't get enough of this bloody rainfall! It's fantastic being left outside to get soaked with my scones...

    xx

Stereotypes may be true for individual people, but it's downright wrong to generalize a group of people. So, no.

This is normal in small loads.

Stereotyping allows for the one being judged to advance to next levels of anything. Being the steeriotypee is the one actually being judged upon. The quality of the judgement betwixt the two relies on a complimentary morsel of truth to already exist.
The bum knows the rich man like the rich man knows the bum. This allows for them to agree to disagree to advance in actualy agreeing on something. usually chump change, or a deragatory spurn miff.
Since their degrees of seperation are settled, they are able to confidently move in a right, or wrong, direction towards self indulgance.

    By and by, completely normal.

Its not about 'labeling people', i mean come on!
For example -wemo's. its a 'stereotype' or a 'label' but these people are actually acting in a certain way that is verrry obvious. if someone is acting or whatever in a certain way, then its the truth, not a label.

Stereotypes are hilarious but shouldn't be primarily used. I'm black and I naturally defy most, if not all stereotypes directed toward us.

    Stereotypes are not true.

They are ALWAYS based on seeing how one or two individuals act and then applying that to the entire group.
