Are people willing to be my friends if i am unfunny?

I am an unfunny person so are people willing to be my friends sincerely? Do I have to be funny in order to be acceptable in society? See even in this post, I don't even know how to be funny. This post lacks wittiness and just consists of boring sentences. I can't help it. I don't want the word 'sleep' or 'ffs' to ever pop up in people's heads whenever they see my face and listen to what I say. Witty people make me nervous and self-concious so I feel like my worthiness to exist is at stake.

Is It Normal?
Help us keep this site organized and clean. Thanks!

  • One can be unfunny and still be good company. You may be a good listener, a reliable help, be knowledgeable about stuff, have interesting stories or views to tell, or just know how to keep a conversation going. Those are some of traits that make for a desirable friend.

  • Friend is so subjective. All you need is one good person who likes you for you.

  • I'm not funny and I have friends. I am really good at arguing about politics and religion, though, which my friends don't like.

  • So, what do you like to talk about? Not is, or has to be funny.

    • Thats what I was thinking. People like police officers, lawyers and heart surgeons aren't funny. Some people into certain things don't do much humor. Just like me and my friends at the gym. OP should not be concerned!

  • It takes more than being funny to be an actual friend. Yes

  • If I have to be something that I do not like to have people around, I'd rather be alone.

  • Compensate with intelligence and being interesting.

  • I've learned from experience that what puts people off is anxiety qnd awkwardness. You can be unfunny and have friends, but if you're awkward about your unfunniness, that could put people off.

One thing you could do is comment on how unfunny you are. That would itself be funny.
