Are people selfish if they don't have kids?

Of course not. Why would that make someone selfish? I've seen plenty of people argue that having kids is selfish, but never the opposite.

It's selfish to have kids since they don't choose to be born. Most parents choose to have kids because they think it'll make them happy.

My sister-in-law feels that it is. Her reasoning is that people who don't have kids just don't want tp do the work or make the sacrifices that come with being a parent. They want to live for their own pleasures rather than giving up their desires.

I disagree. I feel that one should only have kids if they have the intrinsic desire to be a parent, in some way or another. Children often suffer when they are born to parents who don't really want them, I see it every day. There are plenty of avenues which involve hard work and sacrifice that don't require having kids that you don't really want. Selfish is having kids that you don't want. Now your desires are hurting innocent human beings who did not ask to be here. Being a parent is challenging enough without having your heart in it.

Being selfish is when a person always puts their own interests ahead of others or don't care about the interest of others, in this case if you don't have kids there is really no others, you can't be unfair to them if they don't exist.

My fiance and I dont want kids. Its not something we see in our future. We pretty much tolerate them when they are around but that is rather annoying. Of course family and friends say we'll be awesome parents. But we just put up a front till we leave that enviroment.

I think that some people might choose not to have kids because of selfish reasons like they don't want to get fat or they don't want to live they're life for someone other than they're self like Jennifer Anniston
But a lot of people should NOT have kids, if you are not someone who really wants kids don't have them, I think that for me getting old and not having kids is like my life being over and really boring but for others if they don't want kids they shouldn't have to have them because maybe they would be happier without them:)

No of course not. It's a personal choice. Also some people would love to have children but are unable to and it's bad and heart breaking enough to face infertility without being called selfish as well

While there are people out there who don't have kids for selfish reasons, they're only in the minority. The majority of people who don't have kids have other reasons as to why they don't, such as infertility.

Not necessarily, there are people who have kids and abuse them or in some way drive them crazy. I am far from selfish but I don't want kids cos I am scared of giving birth also I am unsure about my sexuality I know I am romontically bi but I feel as though I am sexually lesbian the furthest I'd let a guy get to me would prolly just be fingering but even then intercourse with a girl turns me off too.
