Yeah, I think some classes aren't necessary and are more like hobbies than anything. Art would be one. I'm iffy on History, though. I can see the importance of knowing our history but I don't know if it's really a skill to contribute to society in ways other than for the hobbies of others. I could be wrong on that, though.
But hobbies can teach you a lot about yourself. You can't just look at the face value of a subject, you have to look at the big picture. And understanding history helps you spot patterns so you can learn from the past. It also develops critical thinking.
