  • I'm a male with an anal prolapse. My anal prolapse was caused by work related stress(extra dry stool & much blood), which caused me to push really hard. Anal prolapses get worse over time to a point, especially anal leakage. An anal prolapse is not dangerous, unless, the rectum cannot pull-itself back into the butt. If it must be manually pushed in, then the intestine has a chance of strangling itself and cutting off the flow of blood, to the point where the intestine starts to die. Otherwise, there is currently NO SURGERY TO CORRECT THE RECTUM\INTESTINE BACK TO NORMAL FUNCTION(water-tight, no mess, smell-free). There are horror story after horror story in message forums about failed surgeries, resulting in even less continence(more anal leakage), as well as colostomy bags! All surgery accomplishes is shortening the intestine, a good thing, when necessary. You will have-to manually "help-out" bowel movements. After 20 years, you become accustomed.
