It is amazing how many people in the U.S. think that one's accent is influenced by genes. The so-called "black" accent descends from the southern American accent. Many American black people have it because they grew up in areas inhabited predominantly by black people who came from the south in the last century. The rest have it because they have identity issues and are consciously putting it on. I am never surprised to hear anyone of any race having any kind of accent whatsoever.
