Am i the only one who is aware of himself?

I'm constantly thinking about what other people think of me. Sometimes seriously, sometimes not, or maybe just in a humorous way. Like wow, these people think I'm cool, I know I'm a nerd though. Oh this group thinks I'm stupid, haha screw them, etc. etc. Is that normal?

Is It Normal?

  • That used to be me. I used to change clothes in the morning dozens of times thinking about what each "group/clique" would think of me or my outfit. I was obsessed with how others perceved me (still am somewhat), but they I said to myself, "Don't flatter yourself...nobody cares...they're obsessing over themselves." So, while you're worried about what others think about you, they are worried about what you think of them. It's true!

  • I could care less what someone else is thinking about me, to me people are like ants. I'm here moving amongst you but I'm not one of you... I observe humans like mindless chimps, not considering what they think.

  • on tv and theaters they make the nerd pathetic but in real life theyre not. besides i cant call someone a nerd because people just really like certain stuff.

  • It's fine as long as you have a balance. Not caring in the slightest how others see you seems mentally unbalanced, but so does caring too much.

  • Yeah it is normal to think about how others percieve you, especially when you are in school. My advice is to try and cut back on thinking about it so much and jsut do what you like. Find people that you have interests in and just enjoy your life without thinking about how others who think of you when they don't even know you.
