Speaking only for myself, I can tell the difference in the breeds you named. As for the Staffordshire Terrier, they are Molosser type dogs and all such dogs fall within the pit bull category, so when a Staffordshire terrier is called a pit bull, there is no misidentification. All Molosser type (pit bull-type) dogs are volatile and dangerous and have been banned in places like the U.K. and in many areas of the U.S.
