Thereapy dogs and service animals are NOT the same. Service animals assist people with disabilities. Therapy dogs are nothing more than pets taken to visit people in nursing homes and other institutions. They are two entirely different things. Service animals go through specialized and extensive training, whereas just about any dog that doesn't bite can be designated a "therapy dog."
