  • Written by a liberal. Global warming has never been proven. Whether or not we spend everything on a new energy source it will still be decades before we become completly dependant on it so whats wrong with us producing our own oil and not relying on oil from Canada and South America? You can bash Palin all you like but what little experience she has is still more then Jesus Christ Obama Super Star has.

    • also, global warming has been proven. Republicans who denied global warming 10 years ago are now saying (like Sarah Palin) that it exists but is not man-made. But no one is denying it anymore.

        • where is your proof that it's a hoax? because for my money i would rather work towards preventing a situation which may not be occurring, and along the way maybe reduce or eliminate fossil fuel usage and in general develop a healthier life style for humans, then sit around and call something a hoax just so that we can go on with business as usual, and (if it is not a hoax) wait till the shit hits the proverbial fan.

    • hey chris! good to see you!!

I wrote this post. I don't consider emphasizing alernative energy sources over oil as being liberal, i consider it being common sense.

Of course Sarah Palin and others want us to continue to drill baby drill. if I came from alaska I would too. Oil is a major part of the Alaskan economy, and the tax revenues from oil support the alaskan govt and infrastructure as well (well, maybe that and a lot of earmarked fed money).

But we have to be smart to outdo our adversaries and we can't let special interests hold us back.

Many have called for independence from oil within 10 years. They think this can be accomplished. It will be painful for many people who depend on oil production and refinement for their economies. But in the long run, everyone will be a hell of a lot more prosperous, and America and the rest of the western world will be much stronger as a result.

I don't think wanting that has anything to do with being liberal as much as wanting to see the US and other countries remain strong and with a bright future.
