Boys are just as afraid of you as you are of them. You just aren't aware of it because you are too focused on your own insecurities. Which is fine because your classmates are probably too focused on their own insecurities to actually noticed yours. Armed with this knowledge you will have the confidence to deal with others by being able to put yourself in their shoes. Hope this makes sense.
Virgil Manly isn't good with explaining 'feeling' types of things with young girls. And if your parents haven't explained your monthly visitor then for the love of God please don't ask me to explain it to you. It could damage my manly psyche.
