I'd say this is normal, you just need to get a bit more confidence. I'm sure you are a great guy, you just seem like without your friends you won't get on. I'm sure if you just tried it and took the initiative you'd have fun. Oh also btw, when you ask for a guy's number just say to him something like "Hey mind if I get your number so we could go to a club, I don't have many friends who like doing this kinda stuff (I'm not gay btw)". You'll be fine :).
