I'm a guy in a long distance relationship too so I know where you're coming from. The same thing happens to me all the time and I always question whether I'm too clingy or not. I had a talk with my gf about it and she apologized and said that when she isn't with me it hurts her to think about missing me so much, therefore she distances herself emotionally when we're not together. Try talking it through with your partner :)
