Am i going crazy!? what's the matter with me!?

I don't know why but for the longest time that I can remember, I always had touch anything that I wanted to touch. And if I don't touch it, I get really anxious. And if I still don't touch it, I have to do something like bang on the walls to get all my energy out.

Also, whenever I go out, I have to have my wallet in my right pocket and my iPod in my left.

And, it really annoys me when something doesn't feel right. Like, I have to have my calculator on the left side of desk. My binder has to be on the right. And my textbook (if I'm using one) has to be in the middle of the two.

There are probably more situations like this, but I can't remember them right now.

I just wanna know if there's something wrong with me.

Or maybe, there's nothing wrong with me.

Please help.

  • im going to agree with everyone else and say you may have a mild case OCD. don't think that you are crazy for it. It can be cured with therapy. sometimes it comes as a result of something traumatic happening.

  • another person just asked a similar question. here was my response: a very close friend of mine suffers from OCD, and it can show in many different ways. OCD is usually based on rituals, exactly like the letter counting ritual youve described. some people count their steps in a day, or the number of tiles on a cieling. Some people have to touch every doorknob in their house before they leave, or open a door and close it a set number of times before they go through. In my friend's case she cleans things. I mean every single thing in a room must be spotless and in exactly the right spot. the picture on the desk must be three inches from the edge etc. OCD is a disorder that happens to A LOT of people, whether it be little things that they have to do for no reason up to things that can alter their life. There are medications though, so i would suggest going to a doctor and discussing it. there are also therapies that are supposed to surpress the disorder.

  • That you get real anxious & freak out if minor things aren't in a particular order is definitely something to talk with a school counsellor or family Dr about.
