USPS, or UPS are some good options; these jobs require just a valid driver's licence, clean background, and no drugs. Also, if he does get great insurance of his own, nowadays you don't need to be married to be on another person's insurance, thanks to gay marriage legalization, some insurance companies added in the You+One in their plans; and this works for every relationship dynamic.
So not to put the pressure on your boyfriend, but he needs to get that ball rolling if you two want to have a happy life while you can.
As for your mental health, see if you can afford a therapist.
