You're parents are what's not normal. You're completely fine. I feel people should do what makes them feel good, and should do what's natural [unless it's actively hurting someone or morally wrong]. Masturbating is extremely normal, and most people do it. Some people do it as little as a few times a year, and some do it multiple times a day [like myself]. So, do it as much as you please; you are not a pervert, and you should only be worried if you masturbate too much [meaning it gets in the way of doing everyday tasks, or you are addicted].
I'd like to add that their's this taboo when it comes to masturbating; it's that it is dirty, sinful, and a perversion of nature. Don't believe this. The people that believe this more than likely masturbate as well. The only sexual things that are actually perversions of nature are probably just pedos and sex offenders [rapists, groomers, etc]. So, unless you identify with what I just put in parentheses/brackets, you shouldn't worry.
