Oh, I agree that someone with a disability deserves sympathy. It's just, to say it's bad to feel irritated by some behaviours (regardless of if the disabled person can or can't help it) kind of irritates me :-P Just like someone can't help if they have little quirks or something created by their disability, sometimes we can't help when we feel irritated. I guess I should say...it's only normal to feel irritated by behaviours. It's human nature. It just becomes a matter of being able to overcome the irritation, I guess. I have no idea if I am making sense...little sleep and medications have really wonked me out today XD
You are totally spot on, in my opinion.
Do not get me wrong, I do not hate him! I do feel extremely sorry for him that he will never have a normal life. When he leaves college next year, he wil not have a life at all because he is that disabled. He won't be able to do anything.
But why am I not allowed to be annoyed when he is grabbing my arm, pulling it at a massive force and putting me in a quite a bit of pain? Why can I not be annoyed and embarrassed when he poos in his pants it smells that much I vomit in front of the whole class? I was completely humilated. He wasn't. He didn't have a clue what he did.
So why are people saying I cannot be annoyed just because he is disabled? He nearly broke my arm for christ sake.
Thank you for seeing my side!
LOL I'm glad I make sense :-P Anyway, yeah, for real...I'd like to meet anyone who would smell dirty underpants or have their arm pulled to the point of considerable pain and NOT feel irritated at least a little bit. Parents get a bit squicked out when their babies crap their diapers, but that doesn't make them bad people. Just human :-) So, yeah, I think you're absolutely normal! You said you don't hate him, and you do sympathize with him. You are just human, like any of us. And if someone craps their pants or tries to break your arm...that would be a bit irritating to ANYONE. Then we'd just go "OK, that freaking sucked" and move on.
Am I a bad person for being like this?
