I had a friend with asbergers who would also drink socially to help him open up more and feel more comfortable, it definitely helps in that it lowers those inhibitions and can be a crutch for social issues.
Too much is really terrible for you and will effect your health whether you become addicted or not so please just don't come to rely on it or use it too frequently, to echo what others have said.
