I used to smoke weed at lunch when I had a customer service job, because the apathy that comes from smoking weed made doing my job easier.
Now whenever I talk to someone in customer service who does a really good job I always ask to speak to their manager, and tell the manager what a great job the person is doing.
I personally wouldn't as I'm too much of a light weight. I worked in a big fancy department store last year and at Christmas time there was a free roast dinner with wine in the canteen, I had a glass and a half and it got me drunk. I had to go back on the sales floor paranoid that the managers and rich customers could tell I was drunk so I just hid in a far corner pretending to tidy and laughing to myself like a crazy person (I'm a hyperactive drunk). Then my colleague found out, laughed, and spread the rumour that I was drunk off a glass and a half to all the teenage part-timers and they called me a lightweight.
I've noticed that here in America, alcohol is forbidden in most work places and managers will have a problem with it if you appear intoxicated at work. But, when I lived in the UK, I worked at several jobs where me and my co workers went down to the pub at lunch break and had a beer or three, and some of the managers did the same, and no one cared. I guess the British have a more relaxed attitude about alcohol and work.
I'm English myself and although it's not encouraged as long as you can still do your job after a few drinks it's not an issue. I have a friend who works sesasonally in a local pub gets drunk nearly every shift and none of her managers mind as long as she keeps doing her job well.
I have ADHD and have found that I act like I'm drunk when my medication has worn off. I was slightly drunk yesterday, and my actions were exactly the same (also hyperactive drunk). Just running around instigating shit but bailing out so I wouldn't get yelled at.
I had a friend who got a little too tipsy on wine in the cab of his locomotive, he drove his train through a Buffer stop and right off the end of the tracks, lol....
wouldnt that lead to a dot drug & alcohol test and ultimate loss of his railroad license?
back in the 80s a couplea idiots was burnin a joint in theys switchin loco and pulled onto a main line intothe path of a speedin amtrak against a red light
they and lotsa innocent peoples got kilt
its what started chemical testin in the transport industry as a whole
would yall want yalls 737 pilot shitfaced?
i wouldnt tolerate it in my lil world and im a drunk when i can be
It's true, you're messing with people's lives when you drink while driving, operating machinery, or a locomotive, or flying a plane. It's not funny doing that, you can kill yourself and many others. You know how big and powerful those locomotives are and what can happen if you drive them off the track or onto the wrong track?
Some jobs don't mind if you drink at work, it's how much you drink and where. At a restaurant during lunch can be considered ok where is sitting at a bar for your half hour or hour lunch just drinking isn't cool (if someone from your work stopped in)
I look at it this way: If you're not hurting anyone, doing a bad job then have a couple beers, smoke a bowl and suck down 17 cups of coffees for all I care.
Just remember that although many places do allow drinking, others don't. If you drive, if you work on people.
It's ok to drink at work, but the second you do something wrong they'll blame the alcohol.
Fear not! Before they can fire you, you can claim you have a problem and you can under-go treatment as an option and they can't fire you! lol
once an incident happens its too late yall cant claim rehab
if yallre a waiter and drunk and yalls boss knows it and it can be proven then if yall spill a buncha hot coffee or steakknives or somethin in someones lap the restaurants gonna git theys fuckin ass sued off
and thats not even a dangerous job
I was saying if you go to a restaurant during lunch, not if you work at one. The problem going to lunch some place and having a drink there could be someone at your job or knows what you do or where you work. They see you drinking a beer or mixed drink (even one) and they might talk.
I use to bartend and would have a drink or two while working when the night was close to ending. There's a difference between having a drink and getting drunk (even at work)
When I was an office employee years ago, sometimes I'd go for lunch and have a draft beer, but, that's it. Too easy a habit to get into during the workday. One becomes two, becomes fukit I'm drinking today (not me specifically..just saying in general).
Been self-employed for years, and during slow times, it's easy for me to say, go for lunch, a few beers, and call it a day, but, I don't. Sometimes tempting, sure..Not busy and go day drink. Only did that once w/a female friend in need. Stopped working and met her at a chain place, had appetizer, and we pretty much drank away the afternoon.
i have before and it wasn't that great, where i work now no one gives a shit, most people there have alcohol in their offices
I work in construction. Alcohol is deffinatly not okay. Weed is okay, just don't be too intoxicated on it.
