My friend is turning 27 is a few weeks. She's really sad about it and really doesn't like birthdays anymore. She's affraid of getting old before her time. Is it normal for her to feel this way?

    She is only 27? Tell her wait till she is 60 and at that point she can be upset.

        30 is still not old. Tell her if she is blind, hunchbacked and losing her hearing from something beside medical problems she is not old yet.

    Well everyone wonders about that I suppose. But she's getting older at the same rate as everyone else - day by day - so to get really bummed about it maybe means she feels she should be exempt from aging. (E.g. "old before her time?") That's as silly as it is useless.

    Besides, there really are lots of great things about getting older.
