Age difference and out of comfort zone

Hi there;

Next week on Saturday I've been invited to Laser tag with my friend. She's invited me to tag along with her boyfriend (whom I've never met), his friend (also never met) and my friends friend (a girl I've met).

I'm not feeling very comfortable about Saturdays meet up for a few reasons.

A) everyone is aged 23 or 24 years of age and I'm 29...i feel a little old to be hanging out with younger people.

B) I'm worried that my age gap will make me feel like an outsider

C) I'm scared of meeting new people.

I'm not sure if my concern about the age gap thing is a normal feeling. Should I ignore the age thing and go and have fun next Saturday?

Thanks for your input :)

Love

One self concious lady ;-;

  • if you were 42 years older than them, that would be creepy. You are only 5 years older than them

  • 5 or 6 years difference is nothing, seriously. Just go have fun. That's an order.

  • GO! It will be FUN! I am 29 and I sometimes hang out with my 19 year old co-worker. Also, 24 isn't that much younger than you. My husband is 25.

  • It's no different than playing football with randoms at the park.

  • Go and have fun. Ppl bond over game play so if you make yourself open to friendship it can easily happen. Try it and see.

  • Isn't the real issue here the one about being nervous about meeting new people?

    Take a lot of deep breaths, remind yourself you're only the centre of attention to yourself and that you already have interests in common with these people.

    Go and have fun!
