      • How are you going with the giving up/cutting down and how's the emphysema?

        • No tobacco in some weeks. Otherwise just keeping on.
Just found out one mosquito coil is the equivalent to 50 cigarettes. No coils, lots more bites.
Don't have any idea how a fucking tiny mosquito can fly a half mile or more over water and find the boat, just to bite me. Itch, itch, itch....

          • Hey, congratulations! I've never heard that about mosquito coils, I don't see how just one could be that damaging unless you're actually smoking it? Citronella might be a good alternative to repel the mozzies - have you tried that? That was one determined mosquito, I didn't realise they could fly so far or maybe some eggs were laid on the boat when you were closer to shore?

It used to be said that people taking Vitamin B supplements wouldn't be bitten: never been proven by research but the mozzies used to love me until I started taking it. It's not only the itch that bothers me, it's waking up to that horrible whining noise and worst of all, the nasty diseases they can carry.

            • I've tried it all, and only the coils worked well for me. You've got to remember, even though we've all the hatches open, our main salon (living room) is about 12' by 10'. Your bathroom is probably bigger.
So when the coil is going it can fill the space well.

              • Small house (rented) and very small bathroom, but I take your point, a coil wouldn't be at all healthy in such a small space. I know precisely nothing about boats, is it not possible to screen the hatch space?
