  • I fully understand mental illness, having suffered myself. However, it seems strange that people would come onto a site to ask what is normal when all the replies seem to come from people with every so called condition known to man.

I just believe that people are all different and are entitled to their own little odd ways. However, a few doctors told me that if they give a patient a label then they're practically 'cured'. As dappled said, they feel a huge relief.

I'm not saying that people WANT to be ill but all these so-called experts obviously want us to be. We are keeping them employed and they are making their money from acquiring patients. A teacher told me recently that there is a scale for how autistic we are and everyone is apparently on it somewhere. I just think that psychologists and psychiatrists are too quick too label us all, and wonder how on earth previous generations managed to cope without this explosion of insecurity.
