Can I ask you a personal question? You mentioned that your bio father wanted your mom to have an abortion. I was wondering, how does that make you feel?
I'm just wondering because of the debate here, it's my assumption that if a child grew up knowing his/her father never wanted her/him and wanted her/him aborted (in other words, wished them dead basically), there would be terrible effects. So, I just wanted your take on it since you have direct experience in the matter. I know you said you had a great life with your adoptive family, but putting that aside, you must have some feelings about how your bio father treated the situation.
I'm trying to imagine how the world would be if this 'legal abandonment' involving coercion to abort would affect society as a whole. I'm imagining that a lot of those poor kids would be incredibly messed up. We already have some input indicating that absent parents have a very negative impact on a child, and having an absent parent is reportedly linked to crime, poverty, abuse, teen pregnancy, drug abuse, dropping out of school, etc. I know people who had both parents in their life but the parents were vocal about the kid 'ruining their life' or not being wanted, and they all seem to have problems of some sort. What do you think?
Well, to be 100%, completely honest, there are many times where I wish my dad (birth dad) got his wish, and I had been aborted. I ended up with bipolar disorder, OCD, and recently diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia. I'm an effing train wreck lol. So yeah, there are many times when I wish that I was aborted, when I'm having an episode or depression. During my "good" times, I honestly don't even think about him or the situation, and even when I was told about it when I was younger, I was just like "Oh wow, I have a backstory!" It was more joy than anything, knowing that people wanted me. The depression doesn't have anything to do with knowing my dad wanted me gone, though, I really want to make that clear. It's all the disorders that affect me chemically. :)
