I think it'd be shit. I'm not a traditionalist about much, but I very much like my United Kingdom being united. I certainly like having the Scots as part of the same country as me, and it's a shame that they feel so uprepresented by the label of "British" that they'd rather go it alone. The same goes for the Welsh and Northern Irish (I'm English, and I live in Wales at the moment).
I find it very hard to believe that anyone would be better off financially. I also know that, since Scotland is a strongly left wing country, if we lost Scotland then England would have a permanent conservative government because of how voting demographics have changed. We could lose gay marriage, lose the EU, lose the NHS, lose trade unions and lose so many other great things that working class Britons (including Scots) really need and stand up for.
I'm not from the UK either. I don't hold an opinion of good or bad, I'm just interested in what citizens of that area think. I'm also interested in knowing what implications they feel it would have for Wales and Northern Ireland.
There are strong separatist movements in my own country, so I am curious as to the opinions of people living in another country with similar issues.
I would rather not say right now because I don't want to muddle up this post with my own country's issues. After this post has gone through moderation and has had a couple of days to receive input from users, I will come back and answer your question.
I wonder why my last reply to you received a thumb down. Not that I thought it was your doing, I just wonder what was so offensive about it.
