A political idea

How would you guys feel if anyone running for public office had a hard limit on the amount of money they are allowed to spend on their campaign?

Today, most of those holding high authority public offices (the president, congressmen, etc) are millionaires or even billionaires. Elections have nearly become popularity contests, and the only way to have a shot is to spend ungodly amounts of money on advertising, rallies, and other events. The average guy (or anyone lesser than a millionaire) doesn’t stand a chance.

I feel that by some process (perhaps people could vote, or there would be some sort of committee or something) a hard limit on campaign expenses should be set each year such that the playing field becomes more level. Those running for office would have to provide documentation to the government to prove expenses, and this information would be made public,

Did you watch any of the Democrat debates? Those people are barely coherent as is it, I am not even sure they don't already do this.

I could run as a democrat. All you have to do is go around all questions and mention race, sexism, homophobia, islamaphobia ect. This is how you answer a question as a democrat.

CNN reporter asks "Will you raise taxes on the middle class?"

Then I would answer "See, John that's the thing. For far too long the wealthy have been getting tax cuts in this country. And this has a racial component to it as well. If I am president I will make sure corporations pay more in taxes and I will protect a women's right to choose!!"

People do not realize that political parties (both) write the rules, decide who can debate in a farce that is not even a debate. Candidate X can talk pure BS and cannot be cross examined in the time allows. Cancel debates and hold town halls where people get to grill politicians.

You forgot to thank the good people of a state you aren't currently in though. Sorry maybe in four more years.

Its fuckin insane. Im convinced that the vast majority of people that vote for them do not follow current events in politics. They pray off of the ignorant. Which is probably why they're calling for the age to vote to be lowered to 16.

      • You know things are bad when you only vote for your candidate because they are slightly more coherent than anyone else.

I wish the world would get hit by an asteroid so we could start again without war and the elites who can escape the ever growing limits on our freedoms, who can get away with hurting children and live in the nice neighbourhoods as we lose our nation and original values and culture. But if an asteroid was going to hit, they would just scurry off to their New Zealand bunkers and hide like rats whilst everyone else perished. We don't need a new president, we need to start again, technology is going too far and I'm really scared about the future.

Wouldn't matter, dude. Democracy as we know it in affluent countries is doing a terrible job. Not a single, high GDP per capita democracy has even got a replacement level birth rate. As far as I know they've all had dysgenics for at least the last couple of decades too.
