What you are saying here is that you will settle for something that is cheap and easy to come by, and try not to feel like you've missed out if you never attain anything deeper or more intense with another person. Sorry, no. What you're describing here is commonplace. People who are in a deep, loving, intimate relationship with one special person experience the combination of friendship and attraction with countless other people in their lives. Whether or not we have sex with these people is beside the point. It's an easy position to be in and you're saying that when you bumble into it you're going to shrug and make that person the love of your life. Hell no. We are talking about spending tens of thousands of hours with someone, taking care of them when they are sick, possibly having a child with them. Be careful with your one life and make sure that's somebody you adore.
