I spend too much time reading news stories about malign idiots in positions of power when I know there's fuck-all I can do about them and their policies, and all it really achieves is raising my blood pressure.

I do stuff that other people think is "wrong" but my actual body is quite healthy at the moment.
+1 on being nearsighted. Not very badly, but somewhat...
Guess my parents were right about tv and computer screens XD
I do see myself getting laser surgery at some point in my life. I refuse to walk around with binocular sized glasses.
Screens is what did it to me too. My vision was great until I started working in front of a computer
The thing is CRT screens were a lot worse on our eyes, than the newer plasma and LED ones.
As a kid, I was practically glued to the TV, whenever my parents weren't around and my computer had a CRT monitor until 2006. Early TFT screens weren't much better either... So 10 years of daily, multiple-hour exposure was enough to damage my eyesight.
Modern OLED and AMOLED screens without backlighting have very natural colors and real blacks and are much easier on the eyes with practically zero damage.
My dad has noted that his vision got worse between the 80s and mid 2000s. The age of television and early years of computers. Nowadays my dad needs glasses for everything. On the plus side your children and my future children will probably have better eyesight, because of much better screens. And let's face it, screens have taken over our homes at a rapid pace. Even fridges and washing machines have tiny screens now...
I hate those fridge TVs, they seem crazy to me. Although they are kind of cool too. I bet they are great for cooking along to instructional videos
Wouldn't a tablet be better as a cookbook/ video instruction thing?
Cause your fridge is usually on the side of the room and you prepare meals on a cooking surface that's not gonna in front of the fridge. You could put a tablet nearby and use that.
The idea of smart fridges is for you to make grocery lists, order stuff and keep track of what you have in your fridge. But to do that you need to do shopping lists, sync your phone, tick the items you have, or manually input groceries you've bought on the fridge. Then there is removing items you no longer have in your fridge...
But these systems are still pretty broken.
It's just too much effort... You take an egg from the fridge and then have to go to your inventory and select -1 Egg... It's just stupid.
So the only real use for it is to brag to your neighbors that you can watch youtube videos on your fridge...
Adding more tech for the sake of adding more tech is stupid.
