A feline friend

I stumble upon a feline friend outside my garden it was rather peculiar, it stood outside my garden door so I feed it ( considering it came nearly every day. ) and for whatever reason it follows me and starts purring and starts to do its head rub. However my friend starts looking at me blankly I'm either going to assume it is a stray ( since I know strays do that. ). Its a friend thats rather new to me.

Is what I describe normal?

I think it's normal to want to help a stray cat.

It's going to keep coming back now because you fed it.
Does it wear a collar? It's possible it's someones cat not everyone puts collars on their outdoor cats even though they should and strays tend to not be so tame and friendly because they aren't used to friendly people and more on guard. Almost all outdoor cats i've met when going for walks has been friendly and followed me for a bit.

Normal, he thinks you’re his new friend, it also helps that you feed him. There are some cats where I live who follow me and head rub my legs for pats, some of them are just friendly.
