Yes, you can go upto 5 layers of dreams, be careful though you only went to second level, don't wander off in deeper levels again,
You'll need a powerful kick to wake you up or you'll be stuck in limbo forever.

Normal but not that common as far as I know: I've done that a few times in my life and on one occasion I knew that I was dreaming and then knew that I was dreaming I was dreaming!

I find dreams interesting and sometimes quite fascinating, but they don't mean anything ..... oh but I just remembered that not long ago I dreamt that a very old barn not far from my home had fallen down and a week later it actually did! If I'm going to have predictive dreams I wish they'd give me some winning lotto numbers instead of something as meaningless as that!

Yes, I remember when I had a dream within a dream as a kid. I was dreaming about some party at my house, then in that dream I went to sleep in my room and I dreamt about being on some plane with family I hadn't seen in years, then I woke up to see how I was missing out on the party which was getting all out of control and how I'd missed out on the fun because I went to sleep. I called the party a dream, and the plane part a double dream.

You weren't dreaming in a dream, you only dreamt that you were dreaming.

That's a good, interesting way to put it.

Not common, but it does happen.

Google "false awakening", "double dream", or "nested dreams".
