my son has history of gastritis the doctor was adviced that he need endoscopy he is 8 years old,he was undergone general anesthisia to find out if what kind of gastritis he has.i would like to ask some questions.gen. anesthisia can affect his memory in his age? he is now 9 years old and i've discovered that he had low IQ. as a mother what should i do?
General anasthesia rarely affects the brain, and if it does it's not without notable complications during the procedure.
If the IQ is abnormal, that might just be the way your child is. I would suggest looking into the kind of troubles lesser intellegent kids face, and prepare yourself to help your child accept and overcome them. You might also want to see some kind of specialist before coming to conclusions. It's hard to measure a kids IQ without a psychologist anyway, because they have little concentration or patience for such things.
