6 year old boy wearing dresses?

Hi guys, I just have kind of a problem with my little cousin who is six years old. Recently, I went and visited some of my family members back in Missouri. So here's what happens upon arriving there. We step inside the house and the first thing I notice is a little boy wearing a dress, I didn't know what to think at first. First I asked myself, is this kid related to me? Because, I haven't seen this part of my family in probably like 4 or 5 years so it's been awhile since I've talked to them or seen any of them before. So I later find out this kid is my cousin.

I asked my mother, "Are they serious? Why's that kid wearing a dress, mom?"

She just said, "Oh, he's just playing don't worry about it"

I don't know about this guys, I think this might be a sign that this little cousin of mine may be gay, what do you guys think?

I wouldn't worry about it. Kids at that age are still unfamiliar with gender roles, and they certainly don't understand "gay" or even "straight". Make-believe is a very common practice with children and phases come and go all the time.
I think it's a good thing that his parents are allowing him to play so freely. They can see it's not hurting anyone.

hes only 6! give him a break.
i would say this is just a phase some kids go through and he will most likley grow out of it.
but if he doesn't... who cares as long as hes happy?

Yes, it is normal. So are all forms of non-abusive sexuality. Gender judgments on clothing/dress or any other judgments on gender are based on cultural biases, which is not healthy. Society and it's expectations is what is abnormal...not the choice of clothing made by a six year old. Let nature in all it's diversity be. Celebrate differences and respect each other. Only then will we all be normal. Accept diversity.

My brother used to wear my grammas costume jewlery all the time when he was that age, he grew out of it, and is NOT gay, but who cares if he was. He just liked the fact that he got to do something that his sisters got to do.

Kids just wear whatever's put in front of them, they don't really care what gender it's for.

Once I tried wearing my mother's highheels when I was 7 years old. I guess that makes me gay.

This is so normal, it's not even funny. I have known so many boys who wore girls things when they were young. Almost all of them grew up to be regular, healthy young men. It's just society that tells you what gender wears what clothes. It's superficial, and when you're young, you don't have much social reference, so it doesn't really make a difference. I don't even think it makes a difference when you get older, it's just everyone else that says it does. There's plenty of adult men who like to wear "womens" thing's for a multitude of reasons. It's just if they're straight and want to remain a regular guy, they can't be too blatant about it.

Even if he was gay, why do you care?

  • If I were a little boy, I would love to play dress up with girl clothes. >.>

I think his parents had it right. Let him be. He may be normal and straight or normal and gay. What's the problem?

I think it's nice that he refuses to accept society's pre-defined conceptions of what a gender is or should be. The world's always tryin to put people in boxes: Girls like dolls, boys like trucks - girls like pink, boys like blue". It's all nonsense, brainwashing by the media. Let him be a free spirit. I dressed up as a girl when i was a kid and i'm awesome.

Little boys do odd things, its just how they are lol. It may not mean anything about his sexuality and he will most likely grow out of it. After all he is only 6. =p

It's too early to find out that he's gay. He's a child so, he don't know what he is doing. It's just curiosity I guess.

Normal. It's way too early to tell if he's going to be gay, he's six. People nowadays just like to specualate about everyone, I guess, but I don't like when they just jump to conclusions.

Liek, OMG!? A kid is wearing a piece of fabric? Call the fashion police!

And how dare you think he might be gay. I can't get my head around why someone would have the nerve to think that.

And to all the people who say "Oh he's a homosexual", "Don't encourage him to wear dresses" and all that shit, think again. Stereotyping is for losers.

Little kids just like dressing up funny. I have these picture of me as a kid wearing nothing but pantyhose. On my legs, arms, head, tied around my waste... it was just a silly dress up game! I probably haven't worn a single pair of pantyhose in my life since then.

Supposedly he likes the feeling of having his legs exposed to the air. I'm guessing he likes the draft?

    Comment Hidden ( show )
  • at that age boys and girls aren't that different anyway, he'll probably grow out of it

it sounds like you've made up your mind about it though..

TOTALLY NORMAL. It doesn't necessarily mean he's gay at all.

Rule no. one: trust the mother. She cares about the kid more than you could comprehend.

This is real normal. Apparently my older brother did the same thing. Now, he's happily married, with a beautiful wife and four lucky kids.

Don't worry 'bout it. they grow out of it

If he's dressing in women's clothes, he's probably either A: just playing or B: transsexual/transgender

It doesn't matter though, as long as you love him nonetheless

  • bottom4u68

you are born straight or gay so it doesn't matter when he gets older he will decide on his own

Sometimes, this is a sign that he might be gay. Normally kids show their oriantation at a very young age. If he is gay, and lives with a family that dosent accept him for him, posing to those that do, imagin the life he will have. If he's gay he's gay, if not, he's probibly just playing dress up or enjoying the freedome. Its odd that we think boys that put on dresses are gay right away, but girls that dress up like boys are just "tom boys" but not lesbians... but dont worry, our society is getting better about this.

To all of you who say, "Be careful he could end up gay", seriously...who cares?!
If it weren't for all these stereotypes we wouldn't even have to ASK about ours or others sexual orientation--it would just BE.

really a little boy puts on something for woman or girls and all of a sudden hes gay but a little girl dresses like a boy and its all good. kids are kids that's all it is, by the way kids do not have a sexual orientation until around age 8 or 9 1/2

if hes only 6 then it ok, but your family shouldnt be encouraging him to wear make up and dresses, because i knew someone like this and hes 19 now and he is gay. so ve careful and tell your family not to encourage him to wear dresses.

I knew a girl who dressed up like a boy since she was a kid and now she pretends to every new person she meets that is actually a man. I would dub her not normal.

  • LMAO. I can't believe you actually think he's gay. This reminds me of that movie called "The Hot Chick" where that little boy wears his sisters and moms heels and dresses and puts on lipstick. ahaha. I love that movie!!!

Actually I do remember one of my childhood friends brothers at 8 told us he liked boys and thought something was wrong with him, he was dead serious. Now he's gay and happily married to one of his highschool teachers. TRUE STORY!

  • You people don't even have a fucking clue of what you're talking about.
That goexs for everyone that commented ABOVE.
Look,I once had a male friend called chris.
He used to live near my house.
He once put on some girly flower pants.
Her mother left him wear it.
    He's now gay.
He was 6 years old when he started doing that.
    He's gay with a moustache.
    Laugh.
    Yes,this is true.

He wants to be/thinks he's a girl. Possibly due to trauma. It has nothing to do with homosexuality though.

  • A close male relative will definitely abuse him sexually

    Comment Hidden ( show )
  • his family should send the boy to a very tough boarding school, that should man him up a bit.

After that, they should force him to enlist in the armed forces, and tell him that if he doesn't volunteer for the most dangerous assignments, he shouldn't bother coming home, as his family won't love him anymore.

that should turn him into a man.

      Lmfao PoolToy. Just lmfao.

Anyway, your cousin seems a little odd. I have a feeling that he's going to be a pre-op transsexual by the time he turns 21. Smh.
