what does silence mean when you tell someone you like them?

I am infatuated with a guy and because we graduated, I told a friend of mine to tell the guy I like him via text.

And apparently the guy didn't give any straight answers focusing on the fact that my friend ratted on me by telling him rather anything about my having a crush on him and telling her that that was not a nice thing to do. He didn't say anything about me having a crush on him.

What could this mean in your opinion? He the calm sort who speaks slowly and is more of a listener than a talker. Also the girl who I told to text him is his very close friend.

Help us keep this site organized and clean. Thanks!

  • A middle man is never good in these situations. Never rely on anyone but yourself to convey your feelings to another person, whether unintentionally or not.

    • Why would you say that?

      • It shows a lack of confidence and it sets unwanted boundaries for communication. It is not a good foundation for a relationship. If you did form a relationship you would both be more likely to go to the mutual friend about your issues and you just don't want an extra person in your relationship. It's no good.

  • Well if he's a good listener, and the cat's already out of the bag, why are you asking us? Ask him! He's a good listener :D

It may be scary but if you work up the nerve you'll know for sure if he likes you, and if he DOES like you, he'll be really happy you came to him directly. Be bold!
