"dont be a girl" has a stigma too, so which is worse being called a "girl" or "gay"? i can feel a long post coming on
It's weird how I'd be more offended by someone saying "shut up, you girl" to an actual girl than I would be if they said it to me.

They're both sort of the same thing, if you call a man either, you're trying to insult their masculinity by associated them with a group deemed less "manly.
