It's because we have different mindsets as well as other 'odd' differences and most of society is different. Not to mention where you are born and live in may as well be dependent on a die roll, so everyone tends to be different there and the majority of people don't have the same mindset and/or interests. The fact that media portrays 'normal' as one thing vs what we might be doesn't actually help. Even then if you do end up going out and hanging out people may still think you're weird. I don't really have a social life outside the internet so as far as attachments go, I'm really not attached to anyone outside I've met online and people I do meet online it's still a little difficult. It's especially difficult for me to socialize with people who don't have similar interests, including my own family.
