I guess plenty of people feel insecure about it, judging from the behaviour I saw when I was on Facebook. I guess it's normal human behaviour to want to be liked and to have validation. But lots of people deliberately go looking for it on Facebook. They may have more notifications, but they look a lot sadder to me than you do.
