Well I was alive back then and I remember the 50's very well: issues such as abortion, women's rights, domestic violence, gay rights, child sexual abuse, racism were rarely if ever acknowledged and there is far more action against pollution now than there was then.
However, if you want to hold on to romantic nostalgia for an era you never knew I won't try any more to try & convince you you're wrong

Not everyone think it was boring back then. Some people say that 40's and 50's were the best. Life was simpler with less distraction, pollution, etc.
