20 day water fast

So I am about to start a water fast tomorrow and I am so excited and nervous at the same time.I weigh 240 pounds and I am 5'6 not a good look.I have a wedding to attend at the end of April and I can not show up at the wedding seeing old friends from back home and I have blown up to the size of three people.

I wear a depressing size 18 and I would like to wear between a size 8-10 so I will drink nothing but water for the next twenty days to see how small I get.I know it's not healthy but I really want to lose the weight as quick as possible.

I hope to lose at least 40 pounds especially since I will be working out in the process.A year ago I lost 30 pounds and have remained the same weight since.I have to do this!

You are a fool. The is about 70% water so by dehydrating yourself, whether it be on purpose or not, you risk causing serious havoc to your body and death. There are better, more efficient and intelligent ways to lose weight.

You won't lose any fat. You'll burn off all your muscle tissue and look like a floppy sack of blubber. Forget this stupidity; trust me, I don't care how big you are, you look WAY better now than you will at the end of this insanity. Ask any dietician that doesn't believe in the tooth fairy or sell vacuum cleaners on the side.

Protein diets are the best so at least add a protein shake now and then so your body has some energy

20 days isn't that long. I'm a little biased, but yeah.
You aren't going to have the willpower to do it. Sorry to sound like a bitch, but you're the weight that you are now for a reason. You aren't going to be able to go from eating a lot to not eating at all for 3 weeks just like that. Don't say you're up for this kind of thing when you're just going to bail out day one and binge.

The wedding is over so how did you do? I hope you are still alive.
I've been in some pretty rough mental states and my body diffidently reflected that. I found this site and it was the perfect place for me at the time.

Seriously if you want to lose weight start with daily exercise and EAT HEALTHY! Most of the time when people gain weight it is because they do not excercise and are consuming mass amounts of food that are bad for you.
If you make a concious effort to learn what is healthy for you start eating that way and make sure to get daily exercise I promice you will lose weight. I went down 4 sizes using just this.
If you try to do a "quick fix" diet you will still be unhealthy, probably give your body perminant damage and chances are you will just gain the weight back again after the diet is over.

Try protein shake as meal replacement. Salad will be good for lunch and breakfast too.

i dont mean to be offensive, but if that so called diet (although diet implies there is food involved)worked then why would there be thousands of people who are overweight... its not that they have never tried these sorts of diets, but because the\y result it faliure, therefore depression, therefore weight gain after finding comfort in food. my advice, eat less than what yuou are now (cut a few hundred calories from your intake) and exercise 45 mintues a day (at least) only drink water (not soft drink, juice etc) and dont go near sugar for the 20 days... trust me, you will lose nothing on a water fast except your health and vitality.

You can die from drinking too much water.

You won't be able to exercise if you don't eat! That is such a bad idea.

just water is way too drastic. you body still needs nutrients if you don't eat, and guess where it will take the nutrients from. your own organs and bones.

also, just water will slow down your caloric burn rate. better to eat the fruits and vegs like hotchick says. eating fruits and veg will make calorie burning faster.

Omg, I know how important it is to lose weight and look good (I've been struggling for years), but you must eat something! Even if it's an apple a day or something! Seriously, water does not have the nutrients you need to survive! This could make you really sick and weak. Yes, I agree that you should drink LOTS of water, but please eat something as well - like I said, low in fat, high in fibre. I would definitely cut out all junk food, and maybe even meat... but you should eat viggies and fruit! You need them to stay alive. Good luck! I hope this helps you. Also, you should remember it's not just about dieting, but also getting the proper amount of exercise... and possibly trying suppliments, like Hydroxicut (it sure helped me!) Again, good luck :)

You're an idiot. (Read in houses voice for more impact)

Exercise AND dieting? You'll be in hospital by the end of the week, or sooner. Read what FoSho typed. It's good info. Eat plenty of meat though (Full meals, 3 times a day)... unless you're vegetarian... then eat what ever gives you your protein... like cheese on pasta. Cheese bake without the beef... use potatos. Also an apple after exercise is both good for you and tastes great. Not normal, you could put yourself in hospital. Good luck.

The House comment was awesome. I think I love you.

Good luck with exercising on only water; let us know how that works out for you and be sure to give all of the deets on your first blackout. Try stimulating your metabolism with fruits and vegetables. I heard spicy foods boost your metabolism the most, but... I'm doubtful.
Moderation, you know? That word applies to basically everything. Eat in moderation with small portions, exercise everyday... you know, all of that fun stuff.

Like FoSho said, if you fast for that long, it'll do nothing for you in the end. I can't remember what the actual term is, but it's like starvation mode for your metabolism. So when you eat again after the 20 days, your body will store it as fat, because it's still in starvation mode. It basically doesn't know when it's going to get the protein and nutrients it needs, so... yeah.

      Good luck.

Have you ever heard that you can only live for "3 minutes without air, 3 days without water, and weeks without food." i know that you are only saying 20 days without food, not the whole 21 days...but thats really cutting it close dont you think? Not to mention that ive heard that if you dont eat, after a couple of days your body freaks out and you actually can gain weight. and you plan on working out while you are doing this, but where are you gonna get that energy from? i suggest that you work out, and eat healthy food. such as fruits and vegetables. just dont eat junk food for a week and cut back on your calorie intake. but not too much. you need energy for working out and such. some vegetables, such as celery, actually use up more calories to digest than the amount of calories in the actual vegetable itself!
