Some parents might spank their kids for this. Others might take thie kids to the police station and press criminal charges. I got to say, I think you got off lightly.
I don't think spanking should be the only punishment. It can easily become overused, and also has the potential to cross into abuse.
I do think it is normal for a parent to punish their child for misbehavior, but the punishment should fit the crime. I think your dad did the right thing.
