It's better to have one good friend than tons of shitty friends. I have no friends either I just moved to a new state and me and my husband are scared to meet new people here :(

I don't like the concept of the 12 step program but if it works it works. Best thing I ever did was move states and surrounded myself by new people who don't know me or my past.

Yes it is normal. Is it a smart idea no. It's a permanent solution for temporary problem. Talking to a friend always helps with dealing with it.
